"Time management is life management.
Everybody manages time. It's not optional. Some people just do it better
than others."
“You don’t reach your dreams by just
dreaming. To catch some dreams, you need running shoes."
“It is more difficult to move an object that is
completely at rest than it is to guide one that is already in motion.”
"If you use your head more, you'll use your
feet less."
"Absentmindedness
is legal theft because you are stealing from yourself. Even if you find what
you lost, you never will recover the time you spend looking for it.”
“Imposing order on chaos is the first step in the
creative process. 'Without form and void' describes the universe before,
not after, God started working on it."
"Do not spend time. Invest it. You spend time in your sleep. Investing
time requires conscious thought.”
“A high achiever's career can be like a walk on a high
wire—tipping to the right, then to the left. The realistic way to achieve
balance is through compensation."
"High achievers must constantly guard against focusing
so much on reaching future goals that they miss the joy of getting there."
"The Golden Rule is posited on self love. You are to
love others as you love yourself. Believe that you are just as
important as anyone on your calendar. Put yourself in your appointment
book for prime time, not just leftovers."
"The main purpose of saving time is to invest it doing something worth
doing."
“Leadership is most effective when followers read from
the same page.”
"One of the most powerful four-letter words you can
ever use is 'Next.' "
“Do not go anywhere merely because the path to it is
deeply rutted. Few discoveries are made in a rut. In a rut, you don’t have
much freedom or a good view.”
"If you do something not worth doing, you have wasted your time, or worse,
you may have done something that will have negative consequences. It’s
better to do nothing than to do something not worth doing. When you are
busy doing what is not worth doing, you deceive yourself and perhaps others
into thinking that your busy-ness is a good thing. It isn’t. Life is a
zero-sum game. Time spent doing something not worth doing could be invested
doing something that is."

"Moments spent waiting can seem like coarse grains of
sand in the stream of life, but when you find a way to use them, in the
words of George Eliot, they turn to gold."
"If you delegate well to those who delegate well to
those who delegate well, like Archimedes, you possess a lever that can move
the world."
“If you consistently concentrate on the parts of your
work that have the greatest potential instead of paying equal attention to
everything and everybody, you’ll be much more productive.
“Those who seek to optimize their gifts, opportunities,
and time are easy prey to a disagreeable nagger named Regret.”
“Peacetime patriotism makes the planet a better place,
one place at a time, beginning in the communities where the patriots live.
Look around for a place near you to invest your time in a truly patriotic
act.”

Abraham
Lincoln On Time Management
"The
leading rule for the lawyer, as for the man of every calling is diligence.
Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today. Never let
your correspondence fall behind. Whatever piece of business you have
in hand, before stopping, do all the labor pertaining to it which can then
be done.
"When you bring a common-law suit, if you have the facts for doing so, write
the declaration at once. If a law point be involved, examine the
books, and note the authority you rely on, upon the declaration itself,
where you are sure to find it when wanted...In business not likely to be
litigated...make all examinations of titles, and note them, and even draft
orders and decrees in advance. This course has a triple
advantage; it avoids omissions and neglect, saves your labor, when once
done; performs the labor out of court when you have leisure, rather than in
court, when you have not...
"As a general rule, never take
your whole fee in advance, nor any more than a small retainer.
When fully paid beforehand, you are more than a common mortal if you can
feel the same interest in the case, as if something was still in prospect
for you, as well as for your client. And when you lack interest in the case,
the job will very likely lack skill and diligence in the performance.

Quotes on Time management
Agathon
"This only is denied even to God: the
power to undo the past."
Arabian Proverb
"Nothing lasts forever.
There are only moments."
Chinese Proverb
"People of the West are always getting ready to live."
Max Ehrmann/"Desiderata"
(The following quotation is widely known
as "Desiderata." It was written in 1927 by the Indiana writer Max
Ehrmann. Ehrmann died in 1945, long before "Desiderata" became well
known. In 1956, the rector of St. Paul's Church in Baltimore,
Maryland, used the poem in a collection of mimeographed inspirational
writings for his congregation. Someone later claimed, incorrectly, that it was
found in Old St. Paul's Church in 1692. If time management is life management--and I believe it is--this is one of the wisest statements about time management that has
ever been written. GG)
"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may
be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms
with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and
listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical
about love--for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as
perennial as the grass. Take kindly to the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of
spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress
yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and
loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you
have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace
with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and
aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful
world."
George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans)
"The golden moments in the stream of life
rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and
we only know them when they are gone."
"It is never too late to be what we might
have been."
Benjamin Franklin
"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life
is made of."
(A maxim prefixed to "Poor Richard's Almanac" in 1757)
”See’st thou a
man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not
stand before mean men.”
(Biblical proverb--Proverbs 22:29--and the adopted motto of Benjamin
Franklin)
Baltazar Gracián
"Nothing really belongs to us but time, which even he has who has nothing
else."
José Incenteros
"Do not make the mistake of confusing the past with the present nor seek in
it the ideals of the future."
Mary Jean Irion
"Normal day, let me be aware of the
treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, savor you, bless
you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare
and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it will not
always be so. One day I shall...bury my face in the pillow, or raise
my hands to the sky, and want, more than all the world your return."
William Law
"Be intent upon the perfection of the present day."
Montaigne
"The value of life lies not in the length of days, but in the use we make of
them; a man may live long, yet get little from life. Whether you find
satisfaction in life depends not on your tale of years, but on your will.
Sanskrit Poem
"Look to this day, for it is life
The very life of Life.
In its brief course lie all the
realities and truths of existence:
the joy of growth,
the splendor of action,
the glory of power.
For yesterday is but a memory
And tomorrow is only a vision;
but today well lived
makes every yesterday a memory of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this
day!"
Gloria Steinem
"I've wasted a lot of time, and time is life. Time is all there is."
(Founder of Ms Magazine; interview with Gene Griessman
for "Up Close"--TBS)
"The Value Of Time"
Imagine
if there were a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400,
and carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deletes
whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.
What would you do? Draw out all of it, of course.
Each of us has such a bank. It's name is Time.
Every morning, it credits us with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes
off, as lost,
whatever of this we have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over
no balance. It allows no overdraft.
Each day it opens a new account for us.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If we fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is ours.
There is no going back. There is no drawing against "tomorrow."
We must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from
it the utmost in health, happiness, and success. The clock is running. Make
the most of today.
To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a
premature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask two lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the plane.
To realize the value of ONE-SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an
accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver
medal in the Olympics.
Treasure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared
it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.
And remember that time waits for no one. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a
mystery.
Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.
Friends are a very rare jewel.
They make you smile, and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear,
they share a word of praise, and they want to open their hearts to us.
People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime... Embrace
all.
